The VDE Testing and Certification Institute works worldwide to ensure reliable consumer protection and product safety, and again tested over 100,000 products in 2007. With the help of partner organizations, as well as the VDE Global Services GmbH and VDE Authorized Offices, testing engineers monitored over 7,000 manufacturing facilities in 44 countries. Cooperation agreements with more than 50 countries ensure that tests conducted by the VDE Institute are internationally recognized. In Asia, VDE Global Services GmbH offers one-stop-testing in the leading markets. To better inform consumers of the importance of certified products, the VDE Institute launched a safety and quality campaign in 2007, and reached millions of people through the media. In July, the Institute opened its “E-Lab Live” to address young people about VDE activities. At the Hanover Fair, VDE Institute experts discussed important safety requirements for industrial equipment and machines, norms and European guidelines, and energy efficiency.
