Ergonomics
Ergonomics – the adaptation of technology to the requirements of human beings – is a central engineering process for the attainment of optimal usability. The VDE offers versatile support for the assessment and enhancement of your human-machine interface (HMI). We focus on the accompanying development engineering for electrical products such as computer, TV, hifi, photography, cooking ranges, string trimmers, electrical tools, washing machines, etc. but also on software and user interfaces on websites, navigation systems, ticket machines or medical software.
Concept of the HMI: The so-called system ergonomical concept of your HMI is the decisive factor for quick or slow handling, good or difficult readability, understandable or incomprehensible to use. Together with our methods for prediction and examination of human attentiveness you will be able to quickly and reliably find a intuitive and low-risk handling concept.
Geometry of the HMI: The VDE has access to current data base systems and 3-D simulation software, which will assist you to decide on the position, shape, coloring, actuating force and much more for handles, switches, lighting and displays. Whether your target market is Europe or Asia, we integrate national and international anthropometrical information and thus ensure global acceptance.
Usability-Tests: Concepts, prototypes and appliances have to be verified and validated. For this task, we have established an extremely well equipped usability laboratory, which has the potential for all kinds of tests.
