Acatech is the first national science academy in Germany and represents the technology sciences in Germany and abroad. The Academy advises politics and society on technology-related issues. The DGBMT and acatech cooperate especially in the field of bioimplants.

The German Society of Surgery (DGCH), currently with 6,600 members, was founded in 1872 in Berlin. Hence existing for more than 140 years it is one of the oldest scientific medical societies. The DGBMT holds numerous joint events with the DGCH to promote the transfer of knowledge from technical development to clinical application and vice versa.

The Research Center for Medical Device Regulation Affairs (FMPR) has existed since 2005 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Augsburg. It is still the only one of its kind in Europe. The purpose of the ÖGBMT is to encourage cooperation between persons who are interested in the joint work in the field of natural sciences and engineering sciences, on the one hand, and in biology and medicine on the other. The Austrian, Swiss and German Societies for Biomedical Engineering, ÖGBMT, SGBT and DGBMT, hold a joint conference on Biomedical Engineering every three years.
