More comfort, bigger security and better energy balance: "Smart Living", living in intelligently networked buildings, offers great opportunities. At the IFA 2017 in Berlin, the electrical associations VDE, ZVEH and ZVEI present how technology and professionals have to meet the needs of the users. According to the motto "Fit for the digital world", they present innovative solutions and application examples for the smart home and its environment. Another focus is on the topic of young people in the electrical industry.

With their joint appearance, the associations emphasize the important role of the e-industry in digitization: the electrical industry and electrical trades are highly responsible for the digital change. With their innovative products and services they help to improve the everyday life of people.

Involvement of Economic Initiative Smart Living

The Economic Initiative Smart Living also carefully observes the potential of this market. Its goal is to develop Germany as the lead market for smart home applications. On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, it is supervised by the Smart Living business unit and is represented by an information counter at the booth of the associations.

Not only for Smart Living, but for all areas of digital society, electrical engineering plays a key role: excellently trained specialists are in demand to develop and implement high-end solutions in the dynamic markets.

VDE, ZVEH and ZVEI demonstrate exciting perspectives and employment fields that the industry can offer.

The joint stand of the associations VDE, ZVEH and ZVEI can be found in IFA NEXT, hall 26 A, booth 224/225.

Voices of the representatives:

Ansgar Hinz, CEO of VDE:

"Smart Living" also means to offer cyber criminals potential attack space. Most of the VDE member companies have recognized the threat and are willing to invest in Cyber Security. However, the market longs for specialists in this field. That is why the VDE is committed to motivate more young people to have an education in electrical engineering and information technology in order to promote digital change in Germany.

Ingolf Jakobi, Chief Executive Officer of ZVEH:

In the course of digitization, the competence to integrate technical systems and to network them is gaining more importance. The appropriate qualification and cross-sectoral know-how must be conveyed in the training of the next generation as well as in the training of specialists. As a result, this leads to attractive smart-living applications as presented at the IFA.

Frank Bechtloff, Managing Director of ZVEI:

Smart life takes place in smart buildings. They provide user-oriented and customized solutions for comfort, safety and energy efficiency. In order increase the chances of Smart Home, use cases are of great importance. They clearly illustrate the advantages of intelligent, cross-linked smart-home technology and stimulate interest in the exciting professions of the electrical industry.
