The registered Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE), with its 36,000 members (thereof 1,300 companies), and 1,200 Employees is one of Europe's largest technical-scientific associations that combines science, work on standards, testing, and certification under one roof. The main focus of the association is on the energy transition in the industry, industry 4.0, smart traffic, smart living and medical technology, as well as IT security. The non-profit VDE Testing and Certification Institute employs approximately 500 employees in Offenbach. The independent test engineers of the VDE Institute subject more than 100,000 appliances per year to a hardness test before they receive the VDE mark. 67 percent of Germans know the VDE mark, which is synonymous with the highest safety standards. Around the world, the VDE experts monitor more than 7,000 manufacturing facilities. Cooperation agreements with over 50 countries ensure that the tests carried out by the VDE Institute are internationally recognized. 200,000 product types with a million model variants carry the VDE mark worldwide.
