The VDE engineers are actually the ones who test their customers’ products or applications for IT security. Now the VDE Institute has submitted itself to testing by the independent DQS Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen – and successfully passed. The certification audit (Level I and Level II) lasts seven days. The two DQS auditors queried the VDE employees on all the corresponding provisions of the standard, and documents were furthermore reviewed. Now the DQS certifies that the VDE Institute complies with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 27001 “Information technology– security techniques – information security management systems – requirements”. The certification focuses on the field of “providing testing and certification services in the fields of information security, interoperability and functional security for networked components and systems”. Matthias Mühlhause, an auditor from DQS, gave the certificate to Dr. Udo Niehage, CEO of the VDE Institute, on April 16 in Offenbach. “The VDE has rooted the significance of information security in the entire corporate group. Not only do we advertise confidentiality but we practice it and are therefore excited that the DQS officially confirms this. The protective goals of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the values to be protected are defined and followed”, commented Niehage.
