The networking of household appliances was one of the main topics at IFA. That is why it was a special concern for us to inform about it. Interoperability, the communication between devices from different manufacturers, information security, energy efficiency or renewable energies - our experts highlighted each of these subjects at IFA 2017.
The safety of devices during use is just as important for us, as is the safety of networked data. The experts at the VDE Institute demonstrated how easy it is to manipulate or steal data through unprotected networked systems.

The Governing Mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller and Renate Künast, President of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection, took a tour through the House of Smart Living.
Dirk Wiese, Parliamentary Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi), was present at the presentation of the business initiative "Smart Living", and was informed by our VDE experts about Cyber Security.
VDE Institute hands over certificates at IFA 2017

| VDEAt the press conference of the Chinese household appliance manufacturer Haier on August, 31 Sven Öhrke, Member of the Management Board of the VDE Institute, handed over six VDE special certificates to Yannick Fierling, CEO of Haier Europe, for their new "Fresher Techs®" technology.
On September, 1, Wolfgang Niedziella, Managing Director of the VDE Institute, handed over two VDE certificates for the tested information security for the Bluetooth door lock "eqiva Lock Türschlossantrieb" as well as for the Homematic IP system to Bernd Grohmann, Board Member eQ-3.
On September, 4, Sven Öhrke handed over a VDE certificate for tested safety of the smart SM!GHT Base Tower to Matthias Weis, Director of SM!GHT (EnBW).
