Standards discontinuation in the field of audio/video and information and communication technology

The standards used so far

• IEC/EN 60950-1 for devices in the field of information and communication technology and
• IEC/EN 60065 for devices in the audio/video sector

are no longer applicable and have been replaced by the new IEC/EN 62368-1 standard since 12/21/2020. 

Therefore, all devices that are to continue to comply with the safety requirements of the relevant directives must be tested in accordance with the new normative standard. 

All products from the following groups are affected by the change in standards:

Products that are integrated into communication networks dominate living spaces both privately and industrially. The entire product does not have to be covered by the IEC/EN 62368-1 standard - often only individual modules in control cabinets or kitchen appliances are affected. Here the VDE is the right companion for your needs, as all departments under one roof enable fast and targeted processing.

The new "Hazard Based Standard" (HBST) IEC/EN 62368-1 is the future for your directive conformity. The standard forms the basis for the corresponding device types to meet the low-voltage directive, the radio directive and the required safety standards.
