IC-CPD connectors allow electric vehicles to be charged by normal outdoor household power outlets and handle protective functions that are otherwise implemented in charging stations and wallboxes. For instance, there is an additional overvoltage protection. The experts at the VDE Institute tested the charging connectors for safety and interoperability.
“We are always happy to issue certificates to products that meet high safety standards. Since electromobility and the charging infrastructure in particular are not as advanced as desired in Germany, it is important to show consumers that the industry is constantly evolving and, while doing so, gives great importance to safety and quality.”, explained Sven Öhrke, a member of the VDE Institute’s executive board, during the awarding of the certificate to Mennekes’ General Manager Volker Lazzaro and Christopher Mennekes, Managing Partner of the Mennekes Company.
