7th Climate Protection Event in the Elbe-Elster District

Event recap by Jonas Brückner, VDE Renewables

The 7th Climate Protection Event in the Elbe-Elster district on 30 June 2021 focused on the implementation of the ambitious climate protection goals, particularly focusing on “Tapping unused potential to achieve climate protection goals”.

In this context, topics on innovative concepts for building energy technology and heat supply, their increase in efficiency and the development of bodies of water as heat sources were presented by 8 top-class speakers.

The second part focused on floating solar projects and concentrated solar thermal energy. In this context, Jonas Brückner, Head of Photovoltaic Systems at VDE Renewables GmbH, reported on electrotechnical requirements of floating PV systems. He presented the approach for a structured concept evaluation based on a checklist developed by VDE. The focus was on requirements regarding the selection of components, grounding and lightning protection concepts, but also on questions arising from a possible dual use of the waters.
