Indian market: Support with PV module testing and registration for Bureau of Indian Standards requirements

After June 2018, all PV modules which are being imported into India must be tested at a local lab accredited by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) according to Indian test standards.

To enter the fast-growing Indian market, PV module manufacturers are required to test their modules in accordance with IS 14286, IS 61730-I, and IS 61730-II, and in an accredited Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) laboratory. It is only after testing is completed and the modules receive BIS certification that the respective modules can enter the Indian market.

VDE Renewables can support in handling the logistics for PV module testing in India and module registration at the BIS – an all-around service for manufacturers to sell their high-quality modules to India, one of the biggest solar markets in the world.

VDE can support module suppliers through the following services

  • Support with customs clearance of imported module samples
  • Performance of tests with local partner laboratory accredited by the BIS
  • Processing of registration at BIS
