The 2025 exhibition featured over 1,450 exhibitors across 105,500 square meters of exhibition space. The broader The smarter E Europe event encompassed more than 3,000 exhibitors and attracted over 110,000 visitors from around the world, underscoring the event's significance in the renewable energy landscape.

Under the motto Connecting Solar Business, the event highlighted several pivotal themes:

  • Hybrid Power Plants: Discussions centered on the integration of various renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydropower, combined with advanced storage technologies. These hybrid systems are seen as vital for the cost-effective and reliable integration of renewable energy into the power grid.
  • Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence: The exhibition showcased cutting-edge digital solutions and AI-driven technologies aimed at enhancing the efficiency and management of photovoltaic systems. A notable conference session titled "Utility-Scale Solar Power II: Digitalization & AI Transforming the Industry" delved into these advancements.
  • Grid Flexibility and Infrastructure: The Intersolar Europe Conference emphasized the importance of adaptable grid infrastructures to accommodate the increasing share of renewable energy sources. Sessions explored strategies for enhancing grid resilience and flexibility.

The session concluded with a panel discussion, reinforcing the consensus that a holistic approach - encompassing regulatory compliance, legal foresight, manufacturer accountability, and technological vigilance - is crucial for the sustainable and safe operation of battery storage systems throughout their lifecycle.

Patrick also participated in "Solar Technology II: Quality Testing & Reliability of Solar Modules & Balance of Systems". convened industry experts to address the challenges of maintaining product quality and reliability amidst increasing price pressures and rapid innovation in the solar sector. He discussed strategies for ensuring the long-term reliability of solar modules and balance of systems components. He highlighted the need for rigorous testing protocols and continuous monitoring throughout the product lifecycle.

The session underscored that, in a competitive market, solar companies must not compromise on quality. Instead, they should adopt comprehensive quality assurance programs that encompass procurement, pre-production, production, and post-shipment phases to guarantee high-quality, long-lasting products.

Looking Ahead

The success of Intersolar Europe 2025 underscores the dynamic growth and innovation within the solar industry. As the sector continues to evolve, Intersolar Europe remains a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration, showcasing technological advancements, and driving the global transition to sustainable energy.

Panel Discussion – “Where Do We Stand? Key Elements of a Trust-Based Sustainability Strategy in the Energy Sector”

On May 8, 2025, as part of the Smarter E Europe in Munich, VDE and EUPD Market Intelligence hosted an inspiring high-level panel that brought together experts and thought leaders from around the world to discuss the current state of the global transformation process in the energy sector. The session titled “Where Do We Stand? Key Elements of a Trust-Based Sustainability Strategy in the Energy Sector – Impulses from Europe, the USA and China” delivered valuable insights on the positioning of renewable energies and storage technologies as foundational pillars of a sustainable energy future.

The panel was distinguished not only by the caliber of its participants but also by its diverse international representation, featuring experts from Europe, the USA, and China. A unique strength of the discussion was the shared vision among these representatives regarding the urgency and importance of competitive, high-quality renewable energy and storage solutions. This consensus underscored the panel's role as a model for building bridges across geopolitical boundaries and integrating multiple perspectives into a unified approach to global energy cooperation.

Central to the debate was the recognition that global energy transformation can only succeed if it is built on trust - trust in quality, in stable supply chains, and in fair, open collaboration across borders. The speakers emphasized that unilateral trade restrictions threaten this progress and that coordinated global action, grounded in transparency and mutual respect, is the way forward.

Our deepest thanks go to the exceptional panelists - Sam Baldwin, Andreas Dill, Armida Hemeling, Tinyan Liu, Till Kellerhoff, Tingyan Lyu, Maja Pfister, and Svenja Reimer - whose passionate and thoughtful contributions sparked numerous meaningful impulses for the future of our energy supply structures.

This event not only deepened understanding of trust-based sustainability strategies but also showcased the vital role of international dialogue in shaping a resilient and equitable energy landscape for the years ahead.

The Panel was presented in partnership and with the support of with World Systemic Forum, UNIDO, Senate of Economy Europe, Munich RE, The Club of Rome, Intermedia, EUPD Research, VDE, and The smarter E Europe.
