News from VDE Renewables: “Made in Europe Bonus Program” for PV components launched
The aim of this program is to strengthen value creation in Europe in the long term and to specifically promote the European production of PV components.
The following are eligible for funding:
- Photovoltaic modules
- Inverters
- Energy storage systems
The bonus program is aimed at manufacturers who can prove that essential production steps are carried out in Europe. The required proof is provided by an on-site inspection of the production facility.
Which manufacturing steps are considered essential?
- For photovoltaic modules:
Module production, consisting of initial inspection, adding a film or glass, the string process (soldering), lamination, cabling, frame assembly (except for frameless modules), and module testing - For inverters:
Assembly of printed circuit boards Final assembly – consisting of final assembly, final testing, and packaging - For energy storage systems:
Battery cell manufacturing – assembly of the battery module including battery management system (BMS), consisting of hardware assembly including assembly, cabling, programming, and embedding of battery cells, final assembly, and final testing
Our service for your certification
VDE is already able to carry out the necessary inspections for the “Made in Europe Bonus” program and issue the corresponding certificates.
Important:
- We can also offer on-site inspections at manufacturing facilities for manufacturers who do not have VDE certification for their products.
- We offer this inspection and certification service not only in Germany, but also in other European countries.
- Our information about this service offering has already been forwarded to ETICS and ÖVE (Austrian Association for Electrical Engineering) – and we are of course available to provide support there as well.
