Beschreibung

This time, we target both directions: “AI/ML for networking” and “networking for AI/ML”.

Networking for AI/ML: how networking can assist artificial intelligence / machine learning systems and, in particular, distributed AI/ML systems. E.g., how to ensure that distributed training is provided with the right data and runs at the right place in a network, taking all kinds of resource requirements into account. The workshop also focuses on how techniques such as in data plane processing can accelerate AI/ML, the current evolution of SmartNICs, and which scientific problems still need to be solved to integrate such technology seamlessly into future communication infrastructures. This also includes considering low energy/low cost networking equipment assisted machine learning, as well as distributed and federated learning and inference approaches.

AI/ML for networking: addressing emerging concepts and challenges related to machine learning and artificial intelligence in networking. The workshop will aim to address opportunities where machine learning and artificial intelligence can bring benefits to networking in different facets, such as network monitoring, management, and security. Together with flexible and programmable networks, this paves the way towards a more proactive and autonomous network design and “self-driving” networks. The long-term vision is that configuration decisions can be made in real-time in an automated fashion before service and experience degradation occurs. The workshop will combine original paper presentations with a motivating keynote to thoroughly explore this challenging topic.
