Successful trade fair appearance at Light+Building 2024

The VDE Institute got the trade fair year off to a successful start with its appearance at Light+Building. However, the number of visitors fell short of expectations due to strikes in the transportation sector.

The fact that the focus at Light+Building is increasingly shifting from lighting to building technology as a whole was once again demonstrated by the selection of exhibits on our booth this year. In addition to the new trend of horticulture lighting, a balcony PV system was once again installed on our now familiar trade fair house.

In cooperation with the company Schwaiger, the VDE experts explained what needs to be considered when purchasing, installing and operating such a balcony power plant. In addition to the PV system with solar panel, an energy storage system was also set up on the booth.

With the topic of horticulture lighting, we picked up on a current trend that the VDE Institute is also playing a key role in developing new test methods that are precisely tailored to the intended use in plant cultivation. We were also able to show how horticulture lighting can be controlled with the help of a smart home system from Bosch on the booth. The topic of information security and cybersecurity was also presented. The tests we offered for installation components were also addressed, as the lighting in the house could also be operated via switches and sockets from our cooperation partner Gira.

Testing experts from the VDE Institute were personally available to answer questions and explain the standards and tests in more detail on all topics.

As with most of our trade fair appearances, Light+Building was also used by a number of our customers to emphasize the good cooperation with the VDE Institute. For example, sales and laboratory managers were able to ceremoniously present several VDE certificates to Gira, Esre Kablo, Famatel, Mutlusan, Panasonic, SEZ, Spelsberg and TP Elektrik at Light+Building.

The VDE employees also enjoyed the opportunity to talk to customers and partners in person at the trade fair. They also enjoyed a coffee specialty from the barista hired especially for the trade fair stand.

The highlight was the booth party for invited customers and partners on Monday. This was a wonderful way to round off the day at the trade fair with snacks and drinks accompanied by live music.
