The aim of the INTILION BMS, which was reviewed by the VDE Institute, is to monitor lithium-ion batteries. “Lithium-ion batteries can be found everywhere, even in industrial forklifts. Battery management systems – if they have been tested by a neutral laboratory – reduce potential fire risks in the battery through the constant monitoring of the temperature, voltage and current of the battery cells among other things,” said VDE test expert Christoph Eggert.

The VDE experts tested the functional safety of the developed hardware according to DIN EN 62061 and the software according to DIN EN 61508-3. “We reviewed the technical development of the lithium-ion battery and checked whether INTILION developed its BMS in accordance with the processes and methods of functional safety and whether the company has planned and correctly implemented all necessary risk-reduction measures,” said VDE Test expert Eggert. It had. And on 2 February 2019, Siegfried Pongratz, Department Manager of Smart Technologies and Industry at the VDE Institute, presented the special VDE “Functional Safety Checked” certificate to Martin Peters, Manager Business Development at INTILION.
