Multiobjective Optimization ist ein sehr vielfältiges Werkzeug, wie an zwei Beispielen gezeigt wird. Das erste diskutiert die Optimierung von Wärmetauschern, die schon in Produktion sind. Das zweite erforscht die Entwicklung von neuen Wärmetauscher Konzepten um herauszufinden welche Prototypen man eigentlich bauen sollte.

Dr. Reinhard Radermacher conducts research in heat transfer and working fluids for energy conversion systems — in particular heat pumps, air-conditioners, refrigeration systems, and integrated cooling heating, and power systems. His work has resulted in more than 600 publications, numerous invention records, and 19 patents. He has co-authored three books. His research includes the development of software for the design and optimization of heat pumps and air-conditioners, which is now in use at more than 100 companies worldwide.

Dr. Radermacher holds a Ph.D. in physics and is Minta Martin Professor of Mechanical Engineering and director and co-founder of the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering. He was awarded the British Institute of Refrigeration’s J&E Hall Gold Medal and the IIR Gustav Lorentzen Medal for his innovation in the field of refrigeration. He is Fellow ASHRAE; he holds lifetime memberships in ASHRAE and IIR and is a member of ASME and DKV. He served as CEO of Optimized Thermal Systems for two decades. For 17 years, Dr. Radermacher was the editor of the ASHRAE Journal, Science and Technology for the Built Environment.
