(Frankfurt am Main, June 1, 2026) The German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (DKE) within VDE is getting a new Managing Director: Dr. Stephan Finke will take over as head of the standards organization on June 1, 2026.
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Finke join us as Managing Director of the DKE,” says Dr. Beate Mand, Deputy Chair of the VDE Executive Board. “We are confident that with his expertise in business and standardization, as well as in managing complex organizations, he will help lead the DKE—as the standardization organization in the field of electrical, digital, and information technology—to sustained success in the future.
Stephan Finke brings 20 years of leadership experience in industry and business to the role. From 2006 to 2012, he was head of the high-power testing facility at FGH Engineering & Test GmbH, and subsequently head of the high-voltage product testing facilities and Business Development Manager for the testing facilities at ABB Switzerland AG. For the past nearly ten years, he has served as CEO of the German Accreditation Body GmbH (DAkkS). He has also been active in international and national standardization for ten years. At the DKE, he has served on Committee K432, which oversees the standardization of high-voltage switchgear, type-tested high-voltage switchgear assemblies, high-voltage fuses, and power transmission systems.
“I look forward to getting to know the processes of standardization work from the other side and being able to help shape them,” says Stephan Finke. “One of the major challenges is keeping pace with the speed of technical progress without compromising safety standards.” In his view, this requires working with all bodies involved in standardization to find strategies that meet the various needs. “The German economy benefits from strong global standardization, which is driven not least by the DKE within VDE. I would like to continue this work. After all, Germany has few natural resources—so we depend on the quality of our products and innovations. And these are ensured by standards.”
