Charging station for electric vehicles

Testing of DC-Chargers for Electric Vehicles

2020-07-15, 10 - 11 h DST | Dieter Hanauer

Charging station for electric vehicles

2020-07-15, 10 - 11 h DST | Dieter Hanauer

Fueling up of a conventional car was quite easy. There was the nozzle of the station an the tank filling hole of the car in combination the the kind of petrol to choose. A charger has two interfaces. One is to the public energy supply system and the other one is to the electric vehicle. Therefore two different kind of requirements have to be fullfilled. This webinar will point out some of the requirements and the corresponding testing to help engineers to develop save and reliable chargers.

Charging plug - mobility

2020-09-02, 10 -11 h DST | Dieter Hanauer

This webinar will provide information about Mode2 charging of electric vehicles with respect to IEC 62752. Furtheremore some aspects regarding worldwide market access will be discussed. Establishing measures to protect against electric shock is one of the major tasks in the development of safe electric appliances. During recharge of the batteries, it is very likely that the electric vehicle is accessible to playing children and other people. IEC 62752 is a standard for a product which connects the electric vehicle with a standard household, camping or industrial socket outlet. This connection is required to provide electricity to the on-board charger of the electric vehicle and is called Mode 2 charging. Because the development of these products is still going on, some special requirements of IEC 62752 are explained, and some unique tests are described to help development engineers to design a safe, reliable, and durable product.

Lock in front of data traffic

2020-09-03, 10 - 11 h DST | Alexander Matheus

Digitalisation is becoming increasingly important and includes all areas of the economy and everyday life. However, security measures are required to ensure the secure and trustworthy transmission of data. To work reliably, industry systems, medical technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) must be defended against Viruses, Trojans and other hacker attacks.
The webinar will highlight the challenges for the development of systems and devices and present possible solutions.

Luminaires are increasingly equipped with radio interfaces for the "smart" office or the "smart" household equipped. In many cases, the luminaire manufacturer will use a pretested radio module for his selected luminaires. Nevertheless, the luminaire he has fitted with a radio module shall be subject to are subjected to conformity assessment procedures according to the RED (Radio Equipment Directive).
The webinar will show how this necessary conformity assessment procedure can be carried out effectively and cost-effectively together with the notified body of VDE for the Radio Equipment Directive.

Near Field Communication (NFC) is being built into more and more devices for internal communication or is being used for communication with the mobile phone. The webinar will briefly introduce the basic technologies behind NFC and then move on to necessary conformity assessment procedures under the RED (Radio Equipment Directive). It also shows how an effective and low-cost concept for the equipment of type series or model ranges with NFC with the notified body of the VDE. The advantage is that you, as a customer, have an EU type examination certificate (engl: EU-Type examination certificate) for the entire type series and thus provides effective proof of conformity to the authorities or customers.

In many cases a radio interface (e.g. GSM, LTE, NFC, BlueTooth) is installed in charging equipment for electric vehicles.
The webinar will briefly present the possible radio interfaces that can be used here. As equipment with a radio interface is covered by the Radio Equipment Directive, it should then be shown how the manufacturer of the charger can carry out the conformity assessment procedure in a meaningful and effective way together with the notified body for radio equipment of VDE. This is especially important when no self-developed but pre-tested radio modules are used.
