Young Scientists event "Junges Forum" BMT 2026

My name is Annika, I am 21 years old, and I am currently studying Biomedical Engineering at the bachelor's level in Stuttgart and Tübingen. At BMT 2025 in Basel, I attended Young Forum events for the first time and was immediately impressed by the openness and strong sense of community. I am excited to help shape the Young Forum at BMT 2026 in Augsburg, make new connections, and reconnect with familiar faces.

My name is Mate, I am 30 years old, and I am pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Pforzheim University. My research focuses on the development of signal generation methods for testing sleep diagnostic devices and wearable technologies.

I first got to know the Young Forum at last year's BMT conference in Muttenz, where I participated as a doctoral researcher. I was particularly impressed by the exchange of ideas and networking opportunities with other young researchers and professionals. This year, I am supporting the organization of BMT 2026 in Augsburg and look forward to connecting with interested participants in person.

My name is Carolin, I am 28 years old, and I completed a dual-study degree program in Biomedical Engineering. I currently work as a Product Quality Engineer at a medical technology company specializing in radiation therapy in North Rhine-Westphalia.

I first became aware of the Young Forum BMT through the DGBMT Annual Conference 2023 in Duisburg. This year marks my third time as part of the organizing team, and I am excited to once again help shape the event in Augsburg for students and young professionals.

My name is Jan, I am 34 years old, and I work as a Systems Engineer at Philips Medizin Systeme Böblingen GmbH. My academic journey began with a degree in Electrical and Information Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. I then completed my PhD at the Institute of Medical Device Technology (IMT) at the University of Stuttgart.

I have been a regular participant at the BMT conference since 2019 and have been a member of the Young Forum BMT organizing team for the past two years.

My name is Johanna, I am 28 years old, and I study Biomedical Engineering at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. A colleague at work told me about the Young Forum, and I think it is a fantastic idea to provide young people with a relaxed yet engaging introduction to the conference.

I am therefore especially pleased to be part of the organizing team this year and to contribute actively to making the event a success.

I first became involved with the VDE Young Net and the DGBMT through a short university radio segment that I produced about the activities of the VDE student group in Ilmenau. What I find particularly exciting is that programs such as the Young Forum BMT provide an excellent opportunity to connect with other people interested in biomedical engineering across regions and to actively contribute to discussions about the future of the field.

The close collaboration between students and professional societies offers students an ideal entry point into active involvement with the DGBMT while also providing a platform for young talents to further develop their professional skills and expertise.

My name is Fabienne, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Medical Informatics at the University of Augsburg. I first got to know the Young Forum at the BMT conference in Hanover in 2021. Since BMT 2025 in Basel, I have been part of the organizing team.

This year, BMT is a home game for me, which makes me especially excited to help shape the Young Forum in Augsburg. What inspires me most is the exchange and networking among young scientists and researchers, as well as bringing together different generations within the field.

My name is Målin, I am 31 years old, and I am currently pursuing a PhD at the Institute for Molecular Systems Engineering and Advanced Materials at Heidelberg University. My academic journey began with a degree in Biomedical Engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg, where I came into contact with the VDE during my very first week at university.

My nationwide involvement with the VDE started as a board member of the Erlangen student group (ETG). I later took on the role of Head of International Affairs and Cooperation, which eventually led me to become involved in the professional activities of the DGBMT. For several years now, I have been helping organize the Young Forum BMT. I find it inspiring to build professional networks through the VDE and to advance topics relevant to students and young professionals in biomedical engineering.

Hello everyone! My name is Annika, I am 26 years old, and I am pursuing a PhD at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences in the field of medical signal processing. My research focuses on the automated detection of epileptic seizures from EEG data using deep learning methods.

My journey with the VDE began during my Electrical Engineering studies at DHBW. One of the highlights of my academic path was attending the BMT conference during my master's studies, where I had the opportunity to get to know the Young Forum. I would now like to pass on these positive experiences. I am excited to help shape the program for new students and to meet all of you!

My name is Laureen, I am 28 years old, and I am pursuing a PhD at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics at TU Ilmenau. I first attended the Young Forum BMT as a participant during previous DGBMT Annual Conferences and joined the organizing team for the first time last year.

In addition to the company visits and workshops, I particularly enjoyed exchanging ideas with other students and doctoral researchers. I am delighted to once again help shape the Young Forum for students and young professionals this year.
