[SAN JOSE, CA] VDE Americas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of one of Europe’s largest technology organizations, welcomes Jon Previtali as a senior principal engineer. Previtali previously served in a leadership role for Wells Fargo’s Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance (REEF) team, overseeing technical due diligence for tax equity investments. Previtali will provide critical engineering and commercial advisory services in his new role to ensure that climate-tech projects and essential enabling technologies are bankable and insurable.

During his nearly decade-long tenure at Wells Fargo, Previtali established the bank’s technical due diligence practice for tax-equity investments in the U.S. renewable energy sector. He was instrumental in scaling the Wells Fargo platform that in 2021 had deployed over $10 billion in support of 12% of the nation’s wind and solar capacity. Widely regarded as a preeminent subject matter expert, Previtali has helped promote and standardize many of the technical due diligence and risk mitigation strategies banks use to safeguard solar and energy storage project performance.

The U.S. renewable energy industry was already staff-constrained before the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which will accelerate the climate-tech boom. Working with VDE Americas, Previtali will empower clients to transact quickly and safely by mobilizing a new stream of experts who will leverage VDE America’s highly-organized and efficient technical due diligence process.

“Jon’s ability to navigate the intersection of sustainable finance and clean energy technologies is unparalleled,” says John Sedgwick, CEO of VDE Americas. “VDE is developing groundbreaking engineering advisory products for renewable energy investors, developers and manufacturers. We will leverage Jon’s expertise to deliver value to these stakeholders by assessing, modeling and mitigating technical and financial risks.”
