Anyone can buy a dishwasher or a washing machine and plug it in at home. One thing is certain: devices manufactured according to standards are safe and fit into usual sockets. Standards therefore mean safety – for example for consumers when using products. For manufacturers, standards mean investment security, as products can be developed sustainably on the basis of standards for the European or international market. And for users, standards mean reliability as products from different manufacturers can be combined.
