(Frankfurt a. M./Stuttgart, September 13, 2024) What about the use of biomaterials and 3D-printed implants in medicine? What role does artificial intelligence play in biomedical systems? And what consequences does the European Medical Device Regulation have for medical technology in Germany? These and other current questions relating to biomedical technology are the focus of BMT 2024. From Wednesday to Friday, September 18 to 20, 2024, the German Society for Biomedical Engineering in the VDE (VDE DGBMT) cordially invites all interested parties to take part in the event. This year's BMT will take place at the University of Stuttgart and is also the annual conference of the DGBMT.

The event will be held in English. Further information and registration options are available at: www.vde.com/bmt.

Wide-ranging topics from the field of medical technology

The annual conference of the DGBMT is one of the largest platforms for scientists, doctors, engineers, students and young professionals to gather knowledge about the latest biomedical trends, exchange new findings and network.

Participants can expect a varied program with lectures by renowned scientists, a large poster session, discussion rounds and an industry exhibition.

The BMT is characterized by a broad spectrum of topics that covers many different areas of innovative medical technology and includes current discussions. This year's thematic focuses include medical robotics, patient-centered medicine, regulatory affairs, sustainability in healthcare and digital transformation.

National and international keynote speakers include Dr. Rory A. Cooper (University of Pittsburgh, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Human Engineering Research Laboratories), Prof. Dr. Rebecca Fahrig (Siemens Healthcare GmbH), Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hirt (Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Institute of Clinical Anatomy and Cell Analysis), Prof. Dr. Katja Schenke-Layland (NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute at the University of Tübingen) and Marcus C. Felstead (Erbe Elektromedizin GmbH).

The next generation will also have the opportunity to network: At the Young Forum BMT students and young professionals in medical technology can look forward to workshops, company tours, a get-together and other program items on the day before the BMT, September 17. Separate registration is required to take part in this event.

About the German Society for Biomedical Engineering within VDE (VDE DGBMT)

The German Society for Biomedical Engineering in the VDE (VDE DGBMT) is the scientific and technical society for medical technology in Germany. It was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1961.

The DGBMT in the VDE brings together experts from all areas of technology applications in medicine and deals with the entire range of topics in biomedical technology. It organizes conferences and workshops for expert audiences and is the sponsor of two international scientific journals: Biomedical Engineering and Current Directions in Biomedical Engineering published by Walter de Gruyter. Position papers, statements and expert contributions discuss current topics independently and neutrally. In addition, the DGBMT awards promotional prizes for young scientists, for scientific excellence and innovation, and for patient safety in biomedical engineering. Last but not least, it represents German biomedical engineering in international bodies.
