Standards that connect – standardization at VDE
Whether charging your smartphone, traveling by train, or going about your daily life, standards ensure that technology works safely and delivers the right quality. VDE actively helps shape these standards - together with experts from various fields and countries. Promoting young talent and international exchange are particularly important to us.
With digital “smart standards”, we make standards machine-readable and fit for networked processes. In projects such as safe.trAIn, we set standards for the safe use of AI in rail transport. Over 80% of our electrical engineering standards are already based on international standards – and we promote global dialogue with formats such as the Young Professional Camp and the IEC General Meeting 2026 in Hamburg.
